Montreal has been hosting more and more foodie events, so much so I could be out and about every night sipping on the latest cocktails, wolfing down poutine or learning how to make cheese. Alas, I’m no longer a hipster in my twenties (okay, I never was the cool kid even then) so, for this girl, cocktail hour has morphed into homework time and weekend mornings have me running to the gym for Junior’s tennis lessons … therefore I’ll miss this year’s MTLBakeOff but that doesn’t mean you should.
MTLBakeOff presents itself as the event “Bringing Montreal’s best amateur bakers together for a good cause” since part of the proceeds will go to Mission Old Brewery. Need we remind ourselves how tough the Holidays must be for our city’s homeless?
Tickets are $32 and include desserts tastings, with wine, tea and coffee, plus access to demos where you’re invited to let loose the overachieving foodie in you and learn how to make your own wafer paper flowers and Christmas cookie decorations. This big dessert party will also feature a DJ and prize draws, on the way to crowning Montreal’s Best (Amateur) Baker. If you decide to go, tell me how you liked it for my readers? Or just to rub it in…
